Versed in Truth…

Hello friends,

I am embarking on an exciting adventure of memorizing God’s word in 2015. I want to invite you to join in! I came across the idea on Beth Moore’s website. The idea is to join a team of your sisters-in-Christ, and commit to memorizing two verses each month.

One thing that I loved about this challenge was the you choose your own verses. There is so much wisdom in this. Verses you choose yourself will be much more likely to speak into your individual struggles and needs. Verses that are relevant to you will also be more motivating to memorize, and more helpful in your Christian walk.

There are so many benefits to committing bible verses to memory. One of the most compelling, in my mind, is that Jesus memorized the Scriptures and quoted verses when he was teaching, admonishing, and when he was tempted by Satan in the wilderness.

God’s calls us to memorize his word. Colossians 3:16 says,

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” (KJV)

Memorizing Scripture has the power to renew our minds, and to transform our lives.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:2 (NIV)

Please understand, I am not sharing these things to guilt you into participating. Not at all! I am just excited, and wanted to share some of the reasons why this is important to me.

I know that some of my friends in the Incremental Healing community have been wounded deeply, just as I have been. I am planning to share the verses that I choose because I believe these verses may speak to others just as much as they do to me.

God’s word is full of wonderful promises. Sometimes clinging to His promises is all that has gotten me through. There is so much hope to be found in the Scriptures, and I pray you will be encouraged by these truths just as I have been.

I have made a Page for this post will update it with new verses throughout the year, so that you can find them all in one place! I will post new verses here in my blog as well, so that you don’t miss a single, glorious promise!

Many blessings dear one,

P.S.   – If you have a favorite verse, please share it in the comments below!

Scripture Memory Verses –

January 1:

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31 (NLT)

January 15:

God is our refuge and strength,
    an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.

Psalm 46:1-3 (NIV)

  1. A favorite… Like the way the NLT puts it.
    Romans 2:4 NLT

Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?

    • Welcome Beckey!

I love your ‘one word’ FEARLESS. So often in Scripture God tells his children not to be afraid. The exciting part of this truth is that often He shared these words just before He was about to do something amazing! I love your verse as well. It is always good to be reminded that we are never alone.

  2. Congratulations on stepping into the world of blogging to tell your story of hope and healing. Your blog is beautiful and encouraging. Thanks for telling us about it over at (in)courage!
